Dr Nigel Da Silva is a Colorectal & General Surgeon appointed at the Lyell McEwin & Modbury Hospitals and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He also provides Specialist surgical services to Port Pirie Hospital. He completed his Advanced surgical training in hospitals across Adelaide including Flinders Medical Centre and the Royal Adelaide Hospital and obtained Fellowship in 2017. He also attained a Masters of Surgery (MS) through dissertation in 2019 from The University of Melbourne, focussing on Colorectal cancer resection outcomes.
Dr Da Silva completed an additional 3 years of sub-speciality training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Lyell McEwin Hospital (Adelaide), St James University Hospital (Leeds, UK) and Flinders Medical Centre (Adelaide). St James University Hospital being one of the largest colorectal centres in Europe allowed him to further develop skills in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery and increase his exposure to complex inflammatory bowel disease and recurrent rectal cancer including techniques in complex pelvic surgery. He specialises in treatment of colorectal disease especially colorectal cancer & inflammatory bowel disease using minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques and proctology, including pilonidal disease, haemorrhoid surgery, fissure and fistula disease.
Dr Da Silva also offers a broad range of General Surgical procedures including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, endoscopy (colonoscopy and gastroscopy) amongst others.
