Bladder Prolapse

Understanding Bladder Prolapse

Bladder prolapse, also referred to as prolapsed bladder, cystocele, or fallen bladder, emerges when the base of the bladder starts to droop through the muscles and ligaments that normally provide support. This can result in the bladder protruding into the vaginal area. In certain instances, the bladder can descend so far within the vagina that it becomes visible from the vaginal opening or even protrudes externally.

Untreated, bladder prolapse can potentially lead to stress incontinence or other urinary issues.
